I'm a worhsip leader at a little community church called Northgate Ministry in Perth Ontario. I've been here since about Fall 2009. I also write and produce original Christian music.
A little about my past and my first Christian Record...
I was born into a musical family in Perth, Ontario 1980. My dad taught me to play guitar around the age of ten, so most of my life was spent playing music. I studied jazz guitar at Humber college in 1999 which, looking back, was crucial to my development as a musician.
My father is also a Christian and has been a big influence on me spiritually. At around ten years old, I gave my life to Christ in a family bible study, but as I got older and began high school, I started down a completely different path. I was a prodigal for years filling my life with partying and debauchery. It wasn’t until my third year of college that God really got ahold of my life and brought me back to Himself. It didn’t happen all at once. It was a gradual process of surrendering more and more of my life to Him. Eventually, He brought me to a place where I was totally sick of playing secular music in bars and clubs. I wanted to serve God in ministry and didn’t even care at that point if this involved music. I started working at a Christian, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre out in the country near Renfrew, Ontario called New Connections Ministry. After about a year there, I just started writing songs about my new experiences walking with the Lord, the hopeful things and the difficult things. That’s where the record, A New Song, came from. God opened a number of doors to allow me to track this record myself for free. Coming at this project from a ministry perspective, I wasn’t concerned at all with radio play or commercial success. It’s not an evangelistic record. I just want people to know that God is a person named Jesus Christ. He's a alive and wants to be known, experienced and loved. These songs are just about my own walk with this loving and personal God. I hope that the music communicates this clearly.
